I'm looking at getting an acreage tractor and would like to know more about the new advantage series tractors from JD. From the specs it looks like they are between the 4000 and 5000 series. Can anybody shed any light as to experiences or thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Up till now in the utility tractor market John Deere had only four model 5210-5510, which carried almost any feature that you could want as standard equipment. However the competition had as many as 10 models in this area ranging from basic stripped down models to deluxe. John Deere is just expanding their line to compete. The advantage tractors are not between the 4000 and 5000, they are a 5000 with less features like:-They don't come standard with draft sensing-They have mechanically engaged wet disk brakes, instead of hydraulicaly-Less Ergonomic operator station-No options on transmission-etcHowever the base machine is still a very rugid utility tractor ....
